Saturday Jazz Vibes
Chill in the lobby with a cocktail and watch the mallets fly. Gus Hurteau and his vibraphone produce jazz standards with a little R&B twist - crisp and delightful, light a Saturday afternoon martini.
Gus Hurteau is an Oakland native and multi-instrumentalist based in New York City, where he is currently pursuing a music technology degree at the City College of New York. Gus started playing music at age six, and has performed in genres from punk to progressive metal to jazz, on drums, bass, keyboards, and of course, his main love, the vibraphone. He studied jazz performance at the New School in New York, and with vibraphone legends Joe Locke and Mike Mainieri. Gus has played in countless venues across the San Francisco Bay Area, New York and New Jersey; among his favorites include Yoshi’s, the Fox theater in Oakland, SFJazz, the Regency Ballroom in San Francisco, and Carnegie Hall. Earlier this month he went to Las Angeles on tour as the drummer for New Jersey-based No Doubt tribute band, Grove Gangsters.
